How do I use Cascading Metrics?

Cascading metrics allow you to cascade metrics out to the team, so individuals can own a fraction of the overall target.

Multiple metrics can roll up to one overall metric. This is achieved with the creation of child metrics that roll up to a parent metric. You can cascade down three tiers.

Cascading metrics allows for the summation or average of child metric's actuals and target data, as well as the ability to have different owners of child metrics. This allows you to further increase accountability. For example, each member of your sales team can own a piece of the overall sales team target.

When creating a cascading metric from the start, create the structure of the cascading metric first. Once the cascading metric is created, then add the targets to the child metrics which will roll-up to the parent metric.

The best way to link existing metrics together is by creating a new parent metric and from the existing metrics link to the new parent metric. The team members will continue to update the metrics they own which will cascade into the new parent metric.
