How do I add a Key Function Flow Map Metric that is not owned by that Scorecard?

Using Cascading Metrics to Link Across Scorecards

To add a Metric to a Function on the Key Function Flow Map (KFFM) that is not owned by the associated Scorecard, you will need to create a cascading metric. This allows multiple versions of the same Metric to be linked to different Scorecards.

Step 1: Create a Cascading Metric

  1. Identify the Metric that needs to be linked to another Scorecard.
  2. Create a new Parent Metric and assign ownership to the team member responsible for the Scorecard where you want the Metric to appear.
    • Example:
      • The existing Metric “Total MRR” is owned by Alan and linked to his CEO Scorecard.
      • You want “Total MRR” to also appear in the Finance Function, owned by Ian Cruz.
      • Create a new Parent Metric named “Total MRR”, assign ownership to Ian Cruz, and link it to his Finance Scorecard.
  3. Ensure the new Parent Metric has no data within it and matches the original Metric type (Count, Measurement, or Flat).

Step 2: Link the Cascading Metrics

  1. Navigate to the original Metric (child Metric).
  2. Go to the Parent Section dropdown.
  3. Select the newly created Parent Metric to establish the cascading relationship.

Step 3: Add the Metric to the KFFM

  1. Go to the KFFM page and click Edit in the upper right corner.
  2. Locate the Function where you want to add the Metric and click the pencil icon.
  3. In the Edit Function window, find the Metric under the linked Scorecard list.
  4. Select the Metric and click Save to apply the changes.

Important Notes:

  • Only one team member should edit the KFFM at a time to prevent data loss.
  • Admins should manage edits to avoid conflicting updates.
