What are Action Items Used For?
Action Items are a powerful tool for tracking tasks, responsibilities, and follow-ups within your team. They help ensure accountability and clear communication by assigning specific tasks to team members and setting clear expectations around deadlines, priorities, and privacy.
Common uses for Action Items include:

Delegating tasks to team members during meetings.

Setting and tracking deadlines for project milestones.

Ensuring follow-through on key decisions or action plans.

Providing visibility into task progress for all relevant stakeholders.
How to Set Up an Action Item
Action Items can be setup from a few different areas:
- Action Items module
- Daily Dashboard
- Meetings
Regardless of where it's created, you'll receive the same set up flow! In this example, let's use the Action Item module.

Navigate to the Action Items module

Select + Add Action Item at the top right of your page.

Complete the Action Item Form. The Action Item setup page includes the following sections and settings:

Who, What, When

Enter who will own this Action Item, a clear and concise Action Item name, the due date, and any frequency if it should be repeated.

Why

Enter detailed comments or notes on this Action Item and where necessary, link it to a Quarterly Priority,

You'll also be able to select a Stuck Team Member. Here you can select a team member that may have a related Action that needs to be completed before the overall owner can resolve this Action Item.

This is useful in cases where you may need to have certain tasks completed in sequential order.

Visibility:

Use this setting to control who can view the Action Item. By default, the Action Item is public. As well, you can further customize your Action Item by adding tags. This is especially helpful if you would like Action Items with a specific tag pulled into a meeting.

To make it private, select the Private option from the privacy drop down. If multiple members of the team will need to see this Action Item, choose their names from the drop-down list.
- Reminder: when you set privacy, this will impact other areas of the software. For example, if you pull Action Items into your meetings, if any of the attendees of that meeting are not on the privacy list, the action item won't be pulled in.

Once you are finished setting up your Action Item, you can choose with the accountable team member will be sent a notification.

Save the Action Item

Once all fields are complete, click Confirm to save the Action Item.
